It is a continual challenge to have finished flowering plant material hold up to the shipping, holding, and handling stress once it
leaves the grower’s facility and sits in a retail setting. Although there are very few feasible strategies growers can implement to
ensure that quality does not decline quickly before being sold, there is an innovative and cost-effective product that can greatly
enhance the shelf life of your flowering ornamentals.

Alesco by Chrysal is a unique product that provides significantly increased shelf life for many important flowering crops by
blocking the production and accumulation of ethylene. All plants naturally produce ethylene, a plant growth hormone most
often associated with plant stress. The effect of ethylene on plants is dependent on the concentration (i.e., level of stress) and
the given crop species being exposed to this stress or external source of ethylene. At ideal concentrations, ethylene helps
to regulate important plant functions. However, at higher concentrations, ethylene can lead to premature senescence or
deterioration and dropping of flowers as well as other harmful effects to plants degrading their overall quality.
